S.T. Dupont began making luxury goods for travellers in Rue Dieu in Paris, in 1872. But it wasn’t until 1973, at the request of Jackie Kennedy Onassis, that they made their first pen. With hindsight, it was probably an obvious thing to do. They were well respected for their lighters, which are a combination of precision mechanisms and jewellery-grade finishes, made to be stylish accessories.
Although makers of sublime fine writing instruments, S.T Dupont are perhaps better known for their luxury lighter range. There’s something captivising about them, just holding one in your hand is enough to know this is luxury.
